Character Generator

Creating a Character - Step By Step Guide

The character generator (aka CharGen) is accessible through the PLAY menu while in the Welcome Area (WA).

This step-by-step process is used to decide everything from your character's name, appearance, skills, stats and traits.

To check if a name is available for use prior to using the character generator, you can use the @namecheck command.

If you create a character, but delete them within the first 24 hours(TBC), you can reuse a name of a character you've recently deleted.

If you need inspiration for a new character name, you can always use the @random-name command to help you out.

You arrive at the Character Generator quiet room.

Midlight, the world of The Eternal City, is based on the culture of Republican Rome. We ask that you keep this in mind when creating and naming your character and that you select a name that is appropriate to the setting. Names do not have to be Roman-sounding, but they should fit in with a fantasy setting. Modern names, nonsense names, and names from any modern media (such as TV, movies, or literature) are not acceptable. If you select such a name, you will be asked to change it.

Enter your character's first name:

>Fallinus

Last names ARE used in certain situations in-game. Please make sure you choose an appropriate last name for your character.

Enter your character's last name:

>Natrian

Step #20: Trait Selection

Character Trait Selection

Certain unique traits will mark your character and distinguish him or her from others. Positive traits indicate innate talents, heightened mental or physical abilities, and other advantages your character may have. Negative traits indicate flaws or weaknesses in your character, whether emotional, physical, mental, or psychological.

Every trait is marked by a number value. Advantageous traits have a positive value while weaknesses have negative values. For every advantage you pick, you must also pick weaknesses to balance out your character. At the end of this process, the combined value of all your traits cannot be above 0. Any traits you have already picked up due to the nation advantages won't be used in calculating this value.

You may only pick a maximum of five (5) advantageous traits and five (5) negative traits. This includes traits from nation advantages.

There are also neutral traits, qualities of a character which have both positive and negative qualities. Of these, you may only choose one.

Remember that this is an optional process. You may choose the maximum number of traits and flaws possible, or you may opt to pick only a few, or none at all.
