Codex Great Leviathan Iridine

What follows are the true memories and recollections of Peitho the
Iridinian. Written on the 4th day of Ereal in the year 262.

'Twas a dark and dreary evening, in Iridine so fair,
The normal crowd had gathered at an inn located there.
Its name is known by everyone who hails from Iridine:
The Inn of the Stone Toga offers drinks and fine cuisine.
A gaggle of adventurers, great heroes one and all,
Stood outside the Toga when they heard a wretched call.
From within a darkened silo, near a ladder underground,
Came a terribly vile and horrifying, most unpleasant sound.
It was an unidentifiable shriek, a caterwaul most violent!
This loud and desperate scream was heard, and suddenly all was silent!

A few of our heroes grew concerned, what could this clamor mean?
The bravest few crept quickly forth, to see what could be seen.
At first they went in smaller groups, to reduce the certain danger,
But what they found deep in the sewers could not have been any stranger.

The Constable Rubico set out, amid the growing concern.
A handful of heroes followed him, to see what they could discern.
Among the brave souls who ventured, into the filth and putridity:
Vazkor, Agnus, and Cambria, along with Gryz, Moros, and Miri.
At their sides there also came Ardinia the Legionary,
Her prowess in combat as well as her beauty was equally legendary!
Everyone who went below risked his or her ruination,
But Peitho, Oison, Aleska and Reever courageously entered the risky location.

What they found down in the depths of sludge and filthy feces,
Was a shocking amount of viperous serpents of a particularly dangerous species.
The call to arms was heard in the dank and putrid lair,
But when more of the giant snakes arrived, our heroes began to despair.
The warriors hoped to stem the tide before they were overrun,
It seemed things could not get much worse; the battle could not be won!
But then they heard a rumble, echoing through the walls,
As an enormously massive subterranean serpent slithered into the hall.

"Quick!" they shouted, "Slay the beast, or else we'll have no chance!"
At the sight of the giant leviathan they could barely refrain from peeing their pants!
The heroes suffered from the venom, they all had been viciously bitten.
But soon went up a desperate cry, "Miri and Reever have been EATEN!"
They all looked frantically at each other, not sure what they should do,
And suddenly realization dawned: Aleska had been eaten too!

The champions were invigorated; it was a desperate hour.
They fought to avenge their companions, even though they'd been devoured.
The danger was immense, and they all faced certain death.
At least they could join their slain friends after taking their final breath.
All the warriors were wounded, and Aleska, Miri and Reever digested and dead.
When suddenly a courageous hero was able to strike off the leviathan's head!
The heroes then took stock, as they panted and gathered their wits.
They looked on in shock and amazement. The viper's belly was starting to twitch!

Peitho and Gryz grabbed for their knives, and pierced the great serpent's hide.
Miri and Reever slid out of the creature; they were covered in slime but alive!
Aleska too came rolling out; by blood her clothes had been stained red!
They all quickly left with the wounded in tow, they were glad that the serpent was dead,
And everyone there was amazed and delighted to have escaped the ordeal with his head.

The champions were able to come out on top, but they knew that this time they were lucky.
Especially Miri, Aleska, and Reever, who were still covered in snake guts. How yucky!
The heroes all made straight for the Riverside Baths, where business is run by Hilius.
After this battle it was easy to see that Iridinians are always quite fearless.

That's the end of this story, and I thank you for listening,
Remember these heroes with fondness, and of more adventures to you I will sing!
While in the great city of Iridine, recall how the saying goes:
Even you could be a great hero someday! You decide where you want to go!
