Aralex Pit

The Aralex Pit

Introduction

~ Taken from 'A "relaxing" guide to Aralex By Veridio Dimori'
The aralex are not native to the city of Iridine. As far as we know, the aralex that now infest the depths of the lime quarries are in fact from Cullaiden Island. A shipment of boxes, one would assume benign, was sent back to the mainland and the aralex were on board. Whether this was malicious or unintentional still remains to be seen. For several days, maybe even a week or two, they sprouted up across the Forum Axonus, the Bronze lane, near the Hospice of Morning Light, and found their final dwelling place under the Colosseum.

~ Forum introduction from Scolve
A deeper level of the pits under the Colosseum has opened!

The terrible Aralex, a monstrous lizard with deadly menace and a taste for the flesh, has made its home in Iridine here.

Mysteries and riches await those who dare traverse the path of the lizard.

Warnings

  • Some of the Aralex will continue attacking until they put characters into a coma, don't push your limits!
  • Perfecting Rolling Rise or Backwards Rolling Rise is highly recommended, if not mandatory**.

Aralex Sizes

  • Baby aralex - Infant stage. Not much to be worried about. As with all aralex, avoid their tails.
  • Aralex - Adolescent or runts of litter not very skilled or difficult.
  • Large aralex - These appear to be the mothers for the most part. Extremely angry and protective of nests. I am not an expert on reptilian sex but they are often found guarding nests.
  • Oversized aralex - These aralex seem to have been fortunate enough to have their fill of rats and flesh. They're quite large comparatively to the massive ones.
  • Huge Aralex - Majority of the species.
  • Massive aralex - Generally found much lower. One would assume this is the average full grown aralex size.
  • Gigantic aralex - Be cautious with these gigantic beasts. They have managed to get this large based on cunning and skill and make formidable opponents.

Collecting Eggs

Aralex eggs can be found in multiple amphoras within the tunnels. If an egg is available within, trying to get one from the amphora will spawn several Aralex for you to kill, they guard the amphora against you getting to it. Once eggs are taken, they take several hours to respawn, so only so many eggs can be harvested a day.

Aralex eggs can be donated to the retired gladiator Prestis to earn favorable reputation with him.

Tiers

This hunting ground is broken into three "tiers", separated by upper/lower levels, each with increasing difficulty as you progress lower. This being said, the 1st tier can spawn the toughest of the aralex so don't feel safer on Tier 1 than Tier 2 or 3. The main difference is the amount of Aralex that can spawn and swarm you.

Bronze Lane

Tier 1: Venture into darkness

A single aralex nest is on this floor. Be wary when attempting to steal the eggs from nests as aralex are very territorial and will fight to protect it. Also, MUCH larger rats than those in the pits above have made their home in this area.

Tier 2: Delve into the depths

This floor is home to several aralex nests. Even the smartest, fattest, and cunning rat knows better to venture this far into the pits and you will only find aralex here.

Tier 3: The breeding grounds

Hundreds, if not thousands of aralex lie sleeping in this area guarding their massive nests and possibly more. Push forward through the hoards of aralex to find out. [[This is a world event raid mechanic.]]

Notes about T3:

  • Each room has a threshold of aralex that must be defeated in order to push further into the cavern.
  • Each room has an increasing amount of aralex to defeat in order to get into the next room.
  • Anyone can contribute solo, in a small group, or a massive aralex hunting party to complete this area.
  • Each room regenerates aralex over time.
  • You can tell how many aralex are left in a room by using the look command.
