One-Handed Swords Guide

One-Handed Swords Guide

Everything you need to know about the never-ending journey of the One-Handed Swords (1HS) skill set.

In a Nutshell

Pros

Cons

  • One-Handed Swords on its own (without knowing a gladius style) is relatively lackluster and weak in damage.
  • There is not much versatility or utility in the 1HS skill set alone outside of a Sap & Push Back.
  • No defense-penetrating attacks in 1HS.
  • No offensive or defensive stepping attacks.
  • No multi-hitters in 1HS.
  • No unique mechanic or attack in 1HS.
  • Retalq's Shadow Blade Thrust is nearly mechanically identical to Stab.
  • Questrius' Toss and Crush is nearly mechanically identical to Swat.

Advice & Tips

  • Learn Avros and/or Nelsor for the bulk of your offensive power. This is practically required.
  • Once trained in one or more styles, the recommended approach is to adjust your training to focus on the best combination of 5-8 skills from all available skill sets.
  • One-Handed Swords Guide (suggested) - Chop, Jab, Stab.
  • Avros Guide (suggested) - Stab and Slash, Whirling Strike, Forced Thrust, Rapid Strike.
  • Nelsor Guide (suggested) - Reverse Sky Arch, Kicking Slash, Extended Arm Spin.
  • Pardelian Guide (suggested) - Hidden Thrust, Ankle Thrust, Reaper Slash, Side Jab.

Summary

In most cases, if still using Reflexes, you'll want a retalq gladius. If your character has maxed their Speed stat at Outstanding, a reforged boison gladius may prove more beneficial.
