Spending Role Points
The most common ways of spending your RolePoints (RPs) is covered below.
The main way to do this is by using the PLAY command, "[S] Spend Role-points" in the Welcome Area (WA).
There are a few additional to spend RPs outside of the Play menu, such as 'Creature Button Pushes' and 'WA (Display Case) Auctions' as examples.
For the more complex requests, involving lengthy user-created descriptions, see Customization Guide. These requests typically have a bit more back-and-forth, as the player and staff align between what's requested versus what's allowed.
For requests related to purchasing or upgrading character-owned property, see Property.

#Creature Button Pushes
Creature button pushes can be bought using RPs or received as a perk. The creature button is located in the creature controller room (Ex1 & Nx1 from the main Welcome Room). Look for "A big red button" and push it.
In-Game Prompt
By pushing this button you will be given the opportunity to play an NPC that is already active in the game for a cost of 30 Role Points. The NPC will be chosen at random. Keep in mind that the creature could be in the middle of combat and about to die at any minute. The NPC could also be alone somewhere in the game world with no danger in sight. It is a gamble you take, but one that could open up many role-play opportunities for you. The list of available NPCs for you to play will NOT include any shopkeepers, law-keepers, or any other long-standing NPCs of the game. The list will be chosen from the creatures that spawn in hunting grounds or are pulled from crowds. You will lose control of the NPC once the NPC is killed, or you decide to quit (using the normal method you use to quit playing any of your characters) and return here. By pushing this button you agree that you fully understand the above and want to spend 30 role points to emulate a random NPC in the game world. Do you wish to continue? [Y/N]
Notes
- Players emulating an NPC/creature are barred from entering the Colosseum, receiving the following message, "Creatures may not pass through this portal."
- You will be teleported into the "body" of an NPC that is already active in the game.
- The NPC is be chosen at random. (The creature could be in the middle of combat and about to die at any minute or be alone in the middle of nowhere.)
- The list of available NPCs will be chosen from creatures that spawn in hunting grounds or are pulled from crowds, excluding certain types like Constables, Vigiles, etc.
- You will lose control of the NPC once the NPC is killed or you decide to quit (using the normal method you use to quit playing any of your characters).
- Creature button pushes received as a perk do not require an available character slot. (It is not known whether free accounts can use previously earned creature button pushes.)
- Player NPCs cannot use the following commands: skills (but they can use 'skills ?'), unlearn, selftrain, teach or buy.
- Player NPCs cannot gain SP.

Example
Dragonus booms, "Hello there."
Notes
- Your speech pattern may not be longer than 15 characters, and can be one or two words.
- If you choose two words, the first word must be an adverb like kindly, or shyly.
- The second word (or first word if there is only one) must be a verb that conjugates as a regular verb.
- If you do use a verb that the staff deems inappropriate or requires editing, the staff may remove or change the speech pattern, and you will not receive a refund for the spent role-points.

#Property
You are able to buy & modify certain types of property in-game. A property owner may modify their property via @request and have a minimum in-game cost of 5 talents each. Larger, fancier modifications will have higher prices. These prices are the same for domus and other property types.
Property modifications may only be requested by premium subscribers.
#Store (Package) Purchase
The Store package includes:
- An NPC proprietor
- 2 rooms - typically the public store front room and a back work/storage/office room
- 1 Permanent Light Fixture
- 4 fastened furniture items (including a shop counter and display case)
The requester can alter the rooms', exits', and items' appearances, as well as the NPCs appearance and clothing to fit their theme for the establishment. The proprietor will sell the store's stock, which is made up of items brought by the store's owner, for prices set by the owner. Player-owned stores will not be able to purchase or repair items. Profits made by the store will not be shown in the holdings command page, and instead will be paid directly to the owner.
Players request the location of these special property types, but it must be in/near a major settlement. The staff will work with players to identify a location that is close to the desired location, with price and map availability weighing in. NPC wages and property taxes are included in the building's monthly expenses. Expect properties located in desirable areas to be much more expensive than the minimum price. These property packages may only be requested by premium subscribers.
#Club House (Package) Purchase
The Club House package includes:
- An NPC door guard
- 4 rooms - typically an entryway, a main gathering room, and two smaller side rooms
- 2 Permanent Light Fixtures
- 8 fastened furniture items
The requester can alter the rooms', exits', and items' appearances, as well as the NPCs appearance and clothing to fit their theme for the establishment. The door guard can optionally restrict access to an entrance/exit of the owner's choice by adding/removing allowed players to or from a list, similar to how the guards at the MVG and SOE org buildings work. The owner can choose to have any portion of the building open to the public.
Included in the package is a free Custom Item to add mechanics to one of the building's rooms. For example, turning one of the rooms into a sleeping barracks or fighting pit.

#Permanent Light Fixture
This option allows the placement of a permanently fastened, everlasting lantern or torch. The requester can alter the item's appearance and placement style.
Examples:
- Basic Lantern - "Hanging from the ceiling is brightly glowing bronze lantern."
- Fancy Lantern - "A brightly glowing polished silver lantern with rectangular glass panes hangs from the ceiling by a thin chain."
These requests should be made under Item Alterations.
#Room Alteration
An item alteration can be used as a room alteration, changing the name and description of a room as seen with the look command. This only includes things in the room that are described and not otherwise able to be interacted with because they are not items. You may change the order that fastened items appear in the room's description, but not the fastened items' descriptions themselves.
Example:
- Change "You are in a simple triclinium. The floor and walls are made from planks of dark wood under thick square beams supporting the roof."
to "You are in a spacious room. The high ceiling is held by gently arching timbers spaced regularly along the bright blue painted walls. Polished gold-veined white marble floor slabs are expertly fitted underfoot."
These requests should be made under Item Alterations.
#Quick Keying Door
This modifies an existing lockable door to provide a convenience bonus - as long as the player has the key to the door, or has a lockpick and is allowed to work on the door, the character may walk through the door and it will automatically unlock/open/close/lock with no round time. This enhancement may not be applied to the outer (first) door/gate of a property.
Anyone following you will not follow you through the door.
These requests should be made under Custom Items.
#Additional Room
Adds an additional room to an existing owned property. Restricted by map space availability. Appearance of the room can be altered and exits/locks are included. Discounted price for any special mechanics added.
These requests should be made under Custom Items.
#Additional NPC
An additional proprietor or door guard NPC that can be added to an existing Store or Club House building.
These requests should be made under Custom Items.
#Custom Item
Custom Item requests can be used to change an owned property's room, exit, or item's mechanics, or edit which items are permanently fastened in a room.
See Custom Items.
