Charter of the Vestis Formatae

Purpose

To form a community of tailors and employees, namely guards; to foster the improvement of the tailors' skills; to provide a safe place to work; to assist in finding employment for all tailors; and to bring honor to the patron of the Vestis Formatae (hereafter referred to as the "guild"), and all patrons of the tailors individually.

Structure

The officers, designated by their purple silk sashes, who maintain the guild's operations will include, but not be limited to, these offices, should the need for more arise:

Chief Officer

The head of the guild. Duties include seeing that meetings are held, being a liaison between the patron and the guild, and that guild and individual goals are being met.

Second Officer

To assist the Chief Officer and to carry on in the event that the Chief Officer is incapacitated or otherwise unavailable.

Secretary

To record notes of the meetings.

Finance Officer

To keep a minimum of one-fourth of the guild funds on hand to assist the members with training and to aid the poorer tailors in
becoming established.

Information Officer

To post the charter, member list, and other information beneficial to tailors at a location to be named later; and to post notices within the city of upcoming events and meetings.

Recruitment Officer

To recruit and disburse information to new tailors, and to assist the Initiates.

Members

Members are categorized into ranks dependent on knowledge. There is a mandatory wait period of four months between advancements. All rank promotions must be approved by the officers. The rank tiers from lowest
to highest are as follows:

Initiate

The Initiate is not a full member, though they are entitled to free training and assistance from any member. To advance to membership, the Initiate must demonstrate upright and decent behavior, a willingness to advance in their chosen profession, and meet the knowledge requirements for the rank of Apprentice. An Initiate can be recognized by their white fine wool sash.

Apprentice

To be promoted from Initiate, one must have had at least one lesson in each of the basic tailoring skills: laying, cutting, sewing,
hemming, stitching and mending. It is also required that one have learned lores and recipes in any measure combining to equal ten. The Apprentice is signified by a green linen sash.

Journeyman

Known lores and recipes must be at a combined total of twenty-six to be promoted from Apprentice. Upon achieving this rank, guild
specific lores and recipes become available to learn. Journeymen are signifed by a yellow fine linen sash.

Mentor

Promotion from Journeyman becomes available upon a total combined knowledge of at least fifty-one for recipes and lores. Mentors wear a red madras sash.

Master

The highest rank, awarded a blue silk sash. Combined lores and recipes must equal at least seventy-six.

Employees

Guard

The Guard is responsible for the safety of the tailors, by providing escorts through dangerous territory, and guaranteeing the safety
of the meeting place. They will be recognized by their black doeskin vest.

AMENDMENTS: Amendments may be added to the Charter upon a quorum of
officers as deemed necessary.
